Dog-Friendly Wollongong: Parks, Beaches and Walks for Dogs

Wollongong and the Illawarra have a good selection of dog-friendly spaces, from off-leash beach sections to escarpment walking trails. Several beaches in the Wollongong area have designated off-leash sections at specified hours, typically early morning and evening in summer and broader access in winter. Stuart Park in North Wollongong has a designated off-leash area popular with the inner-city dog-walking community. Corrimal and Windang have off-leash areas at their respective beach and estuary reserves. The Illawarra escarpment tracks permit leashed dogs on most sections, though verifying individual track designations is worthwhile before visiting. Several cafes along the Crown Street pedestrian mall and the northern beach strip have outdoor seating that welcomes leashed dogs. Wollongong City Council's website lists current off-leash areas and beach rules.
