Kiama Day Trip from Wollongong: Blowhole, Beaches and the Kiama Coast Walk

Kiama, about 25 kilometres south of Wollongong city along the Illawarra coast, is one of the most visited day-trip destinations in the region. The famous Kiama Blowhole on the headland shoots water skyward through a rock formation, most dramatically in heavy swell. The Kiama Coast Walk, a 22-kilometre multi-day trail, can also be done in sections as a day walk between Kiama and Gerringong. Kiama itself has a compact town centre with good cafes and a well-regarded Thursday evening farmers market at the showground. The beaches at Kiama and nearby Surf Beach and Easts Beach are patrolled in summer. Kiama is easily reached by train from Wollongong in about 25 minutes or from Sydney Central in just over an hour.
