This format gives emerging contributors a platform to present work directly to audiences in Wollongong.
Women Artists Mark 25 Years of Work
The 'Brilliance' Art Exhibition opened at Project Contemporary Artspace to mark 25 years of local women artists from across the Illawarra region. The show draws attention to sustained creative practice by women who have built careers in the area. It sits alongside other initiatives that recognise contributions in fields such as innovation at the University of Wollongong.
Intercultural Events Highlight New Talent
Wollongong's new intercultural festival Culture Mix is set for Saturday 21 October as an eight-hour program of music, dance, workshops and global food at CBD venues including Town Hall and Art Gallery. During Harmony Week from 20 to 27 March the historic Breakwater Lighthouse in Wollongong Harbour will be illuminated in orange. Dr Tamantha Stutchbury, Director of iAccelerate at the University of Wollongong, was named 2026 Wollongong Local Woman of the Year for her work supporting women in STEM and regional innovation. These activities create further openings for participants to present and develop their voices.
